Concept, video and editing by Anabel Roca

This canvas was made slowly for about 8 months of 2019 leading up to the Covid Pandemic.

As I started to share the image; viewers started to comment that it almost looked cellular -- viral --

The images portrayed of the Covid Virus had little nubs sticking out of the round green blob.

I named it 'Virus' at first.

As the pandemic progressed I changed the name to 'Portal'

To me, 2020 warped time as if it was pulling us through a black hole.

Portal hung on different walls in my house for most of 2020 and 2021.

I started to have a strange feeling about it (distaste) halfway through 2021.

Then around October I went through a really chaotic period of time.

I felt scattered.
My life was split between two cities and I was having trouble grounding.

One afternoon, I took a look at the painting, grabbed it off the wall and from there, it truly became a subconscious expression of getting through a fragmented and dis-regulated pocket of time.
There are a lot of layers in this for me but I enjoy hearing the ways in which it lands with the viewer and so I will keep the rest of the process and meaning to myself so as to allow room for your interpretation.
I hope you enjoy.
I made the following video for Krumpers in my mind -- however, the video includes some wrist warm ups and spine maintenance movements from the clinical world which would be useful for breakdancers, climbers, pole dancers... honestly... anyone...

If you watch it, please give it a comment or thumbs up :)

Enjoy!
